Exploring Morioka with Terry, Rillah, Allan and Colleen from Canada. 2026.5.12

With the exception of Terry, this is almost everyone’s first trip to Japan. Terry and Rillah are from Victoria, while Allan and Colleen are from Edmonton. We were surprised to hear that Allan had decided to visit Morioka after reading an article in The New York Times. The article listed Morioka as one of the “52 Places to Visit in 2023.” They were looking forward to exploring Morioka, expecting it to be a historic city that’s easy to walk around. They seemed to have a wonderful time strolling through Morioka, searching for the Nitobe Memorial, and eating soba.
テリーさんを除いて、他の３人は日本旅行が初めて。テリーさんとリアさんは盛岡の姉妹都市ビクトリア出身。 一方、アランさんとコリンさんはエドモントン出身。アランさんがニューヨークタイムズで2023年に盛岡が52の行くべき 都市のひとつに選ばれた記事を読んだことがきっかけで、盛岡訪問を決定したことを聞き驚きました。 彼らは、盛岡市内を歩きそして新渡戸稲造の軌跡をたどり、名物のそばを食べ盛岡観光を楽しんだようです。
